YI is Getting Married: The Proposal

It's been over 2 months and I still can't believe it! I'm getting married.

So how did it all happen?
Well it turns out tradition isn't the standard in this household.

Boy meets girl
Boy move in
Boy struggles under the influence of a live-in wedding planner
Girl tries really hard to step back and let the natural progress of a relationship take place
Girl fails to keep quiet and Boy thinks he made the decision to have an early 2011 wedding
Boy and Girl announce it to friends and family

Boy and Girl are not engaged, yet....

Hard enough that I plan weddings every day but when the idea comes around that it might actually be my turn, yikes. Sorry Mr. Mighty you didn't run fast enough.

So the date was selected, the location booked, save the dates sent (see future posts) yet something was missing, oh yeah we weren't engaged.

Set the scene:

Well it's 8 months before the wedding so it's a good idea to start dress shopping. It can take up to 6 months when you order a dress.

We're at home and just finished watching the movie Dear John, the credits were running and music playing in the background.  When talking about our Saturday plans I shared that I was feeling kinda weird about dress shopping because I don't like being the centre of attention but Mr. Mighty thought it was because I wasn't engaged.

bah! what?! Oh god I'm so pushy, what am I thinking? I burst out in emotion from under a blanket completely embarrassed for being a pushy wedding planner and pretty much forcing Mr. Mighty to propose.  Not the case of course but I had a moment of panic.

He took me to our room so I could relax and to help me calm down.  In moments I found myself in a blur of 'will you marry me?' I could only throw myself in his direction and say....

What?

again 'will you marry me?'    Perfection!  I've always wanted a sound track to my life and I actually had a beautiful love song playing in the background.

Without spilling all of the details and in the interest of keeping some of these moment between us, let's just say, I said yes.

Of course! I ordered the invitations that morning.
